One of the biggest obstacles I see business owner's experiencing is the need for perfection.
This deep desire to appeal to your audience in just the right way is natural.
We want to show up as our best selves. We want to give our people the best of what we have to offer. We want what we share and put out there to the world to look good - and more importantly, we want to see results.
But what if I told you that by waiting for something to be just right that you are actually hindering your success? 👀
Let them, and let me.
This week I read a fantastic book by Mel Robins, The Let Them Theory, and it's the inspiration behind this next section. Let me start by saying if you're someone who is looking to both understand others as well as yourself AND deepen you personal success in every aspect of life I highly recommend you read it.
Looking deeply at the idea to 'let them' and adopting a relentless habit to 'let me' will unlock your potential - especially in your marketing.
Here's some examples to help you understand the power of this idea just a bit more.
For someone new to social media: you might know deep down you need to get yourself out there, but be nervous about actually sharing what you do with the world. Maybe you're concerned about what people will think, maybe it won't catch any attention because the colors are wrong and it's too crowded visually, or your content isn't getting the reach, likes, or views you want, and why even try.... let them.
For someone who is new to email marketing: you might be nervous to show up in your customer's inboxes. It might be scary, you might not want to seem overbearing, and how dare you show up among the 100's of other emails especially if they haven't heard from you in a while, maybe they won't even like what I have to say, what will they think... let them.
For someone who's feeling stuck in their side hustle: you could have an amazing idea, or already starting to do something new for yourself, unlocking the door of what could be in your life. While you're building this future for yourself you know it will be hard, but while you're in the thick of it you might feel imposter syndrome, lost and unsure in your future success, or find yourself questioning and freezing over the possibilities and what if's, like what will my boss, family, or friends think when I leave and do this thing... let them.
For someone struggling with consistency in their marketing: you might have a fabulous product or service, but something is disconnected. Maybe it's in how you're promoting your business, or perhaps you just aren't confident with your business voice and the analysis paralysis has you stuck in a world of comparison to others who may be more successful than you... let them.
Let them enjoy where they are in their business... let them be shocked by you going all in on yourself... let them see you show up in their inbox... let them see your 'version done' on social media... AND LET ME follow through and do the work to get there.

5 tips to help you say 'let me' in your marketing efforts.
So how can you adopt this idea in your everyday efforts, especially as a small business owner?
I've got 5 tips to that you can implement in your marketing to help you make big changes over time and serve you well for years to come..
Let me connect with my people regularly. If someone has given you their email address, they want to hear from you. Don't be afraid to show up. Commit to sending at least one message a month to your list. (If you are looking for an email marketing tool and creative content house, my go-to is 'KIT'.)
Let me actually tell the world what I do. Have you shown up and taken space by telling people what you do? Better yet, do you do it consistently? Chances are you can do this even more.
Let me reach out to others in my community. Are you a local business that could champion change in your local space? Be the one to connect and network with others. You'll be surprised how much impact simply showing up and making a positive ripple in your community. Plus, people will be likely to think of you and share your business with the world too!
Let me create a welcoming and nurturing environment for my people. Whether it's your team or your clients, showing up in a positive, respectful, and supportive way will build the success you envision with time.
Let me give valuable, supportive connection wherever they are in their journey with me. This can look like a high quality blog that answers actual questions your people have and then actually sharing that blog with others who ask you the same question in the future, or creating a nurture sequence for your audience who download your resources that thoughtfully time follow ups automatically so you show up and can help them make the most of what you're trying to give them - this is moldable and applicable to so many areas of your client journey!
Removing stigma from the situations we are experiencing, releasing others of expectations, and shifting the focus to one of personal empowerment is at the core of this theory.
By taking the reins and saying let me in your business, you are unlocking doors and breaking glass ceilings.
Most notably, when you say let me take charge and, as I love to say, be the captain of my ship you are actually able to make smarter, more insightful decisions that will foster long term success.
This doesn't mean you have to do it all yourself forever. But, it's important to remember there are seasons to your growth and sometimes you will have to put in the serious effort, energy, and hours to make it all happen. And when you are at a place you can work with a professional, or an agency, or an assistant, etc. you'll WANT to have this level of understanding in your business. 🧠
Having a deep commitment and understanding behind the work being done in your marketing will help you, for example, to effectively participate with strategists, or communicate with a professional content creator your vision so those people can really support you and build up your brand.
If you're someone who is ready to get support in building your brand online and with the world, I invite you to send me a message.
I hope you feel inspired to create change in your business and life.
The possibilities are truly endless.
With joy,
Christie
